We created Active After 55 in the hope that you will join us on a journey to get healthy lifestyle habits into your life. back to a healthy, happy and active life.  Hopefully, the majority of us are in a position to take advantage of a different lifestyle.  This new lifestyle involves pampering ourselves and getting back to the things we need to do to live a long healthy life.  As our careers, child raising and saving for retirement slowly draw to a conclusion, we now have time to explore healthy lifestyle habits.

The programs that lead to a longer and healthier life are found at Blue Zones. There are at least four areas which need to be addressed in order to get maximum longevity out of our bodies.  These areas include diet, community, regular physical activity and a positive attitude.

Healthy Lifestyle Habits start with some very easy steps. Increase physical activity and moderate alcohol and fast foods.

But maximum longevity is only part of the story. Most studies into longevity concentrate on finding ways to continue to be more active and happy as we age. Being in an old age home and waiting on the inevitable, doesn’t seem like a great idea.  Hopefully projects like the Blue Zone and this website will help avoid the nursing home scenario.

The Blue Zones Project aims to increase healthy living and longevity. It identifies and promotes the habits and lifestyles of the world’s longest-lived people. The Blue zone initiative is the creation of Dan Buettner, a National Geographic explorer. He is the author of the book “The Blue Zones: Lessons in Living Longer from the People Who’ve Lived the Longest.”

Healthy Lifestyle Habits can be found in all Blue Zone Communities

HHi! Thanks for the comment. I suppose that everyone is different, but I know that for me exercise and mountain biking in particular is what keeps me sane. How much are you mountain biking? I try to get out 3 or 4 times a week. Good luck!
