What does Brevard have to Offer?

Brevard is not just about hiking or biking. A whole community has grown up around the great outdoors. However, Brevard, North Carolina offers more outdoor adventures than almost anywhere east of the Mississippi. We have hundreds of miles of trails to ride or hike, hundreds of waterfalls and great places to swim and relax. But the great outdoors is only part of the picture.  Brevard is also a musical town.  You can find rock or jazz or bluegrass day or night in the spring and summer months. You can ride, hike or explore waterfalls and then grab a bite to eat and head to listen to great music. And don’t forget some of this music happens at our local breweries.

Hiking Near Brevard NC

Hiking to a remote waterfall means you might have it all to yourself!

If Mountain Biking or Road Riding is not your thing, then maybe you’d like to hike to a waterfall. To access most of the more popular waterfalls in Dupont or Pisgah forest, you will need to fight to find a parking space and then walk with hundreds of other tourists to admire the scene. However, if this doesn’t seem the ideal way to visit a spectacular waterfall, then maybe you need to hike with us to a remote area known only to the most experienced locals. On most days parking is easy and you will have a great waterfall all to yourself. We can show you trails that lead to waterfalls or beautiful lakes or both! Pack a lunch and make a day of it. And in some areas, there are two or three waterfalls within hiking distance.

Like To Road Ride But Hate Traffic?

We know how you feel. In Brevard NC, and the surrounding areas you can get out on the road and not have to worry about traffic. We can show you routes that are quiet and safe!

Waterfall Exploration

There are some very easy waterfalls to get to and enjoy.  You can park your car and take a short walk to any number of them. There are some spectacular waterfalls that require a short or long hike or bike ride.

Fitness

And one last note.  You will notice a lot of generally fit people here.  That’s because of the mountains. A normal bike ride will have an elevation gain of between 1700 and 3500 feet. As for hikes, 500 to a 1500. Many people ride or hike 3 or 4 times a week. After all, many of us came here to ride and hike. All rides and hikes have a net zero elevation change. This means for every foot you climb, you will descend a foot. Don’t trivialize the downhills. Regardless of hiking or biking you will need skills to get down safely.

If your goal is to ride and hike the local destinations then you need to get in shape. We will show you the general level of fitness that you need and the skills required for your particular activity. You will get fit and lose weight because you are training to take on the mountains. You have motivation and purpose. Hopefully you can get a local group of like minded individuals to join you in your pursuit of being the KOM. But regardless, we are here to guide virtually and in person. Virtually, as you develop a training routine and personally when you finally get here.
